The third edition of the HPP Research Awards has closed its call for submissions with very positive results, consolidating its position as a leading initiative for fostering scientific talent and innovation in the field of HPP technology.
The deadline for submitting applications passed on April 5, with a total of 25 proposals received from around the world. This outstanding participation reflects the growing interest of the international research community in the development and application of high-pressure technology in key sectors such as food, biotechnology, and food safety. Furthermore, it confirms the role of the HPP Research Awards as a meeting point for the exchange of knowledge and the generation of new solutions that contribute to the advancement of the industry.
Countries from which applications have been received include Spain, Portugal, Italy, the United States, England, Ireland, China, Malaysia, Mexico, India, and Turkey. This geographic diversity highlights the global nature of the awards and their ability to connect research talent on an international level, bringing together different approaches, methodologies, and lines of research under a single common goal: to drive innovation in HPP technology.

The caliber of the applications received has been remarkable, both in terms of the scientific quality of the work and the variety of applications submitted. The proposals span different fields of study, demonstrating the versatility and enormous potential of HPP technology across multiple disciplines.
Now that the call for submissions has closed, the evaluation process for the submitted projects is underway. A panel of experts will be responsible for analyzing each proposal in detail, assessing aspects such as originality, applicability, scientific impact, and potential for transfer to industry. As a result of this evaluation, three finalists will be selected and announced on May 12.
The finalists will have the opportunity to present their research in a webinar to be held on May 27, as part of the HPP Research Awards ceremony. This event represents a key moment in the call for proposals, as it will allow candidates to present their projects live to the jury and share the progress of their research with the scientific and industrial community.
During this session, the jury—composed of Dr. Nora Adzahan, professor at the Faculty of Food Technology at Universiti Putra Malaysia; Dr. Jorge Saraiva, professor and researcher at the University of Aveiro (Portugal); and Carole Tonello, PhD in Food Science and Vice President of Business Development at Hiperbaric, will evaluate the presentations and select the winning project of this third edition. Their experience and international prestige guarantee a rigorous evaluation aligned with the highest scientific and innovation standards.
At Hiperbaric, we would like to thank all participants for their interest and the high quality of the submissions received. This high level of participation reinforces our commitment to promoting research and scientific development in the field of HPP technology, as well as to fostering emerging talent and creating new opportunities for collaboration between academia and industry.
We will soon be sharing more updates about this edition, which promises to continue driving knowledge and innovation on a global scale, contributing to the development of more efficient, sustainable, and safe solutions for the future of food.
