  • The Burgos-based businessman has a long professional career dedicated to innovation, industry, and the promotion of the region’s business community.
  • The president of Hiperbaric succeeds Isidoro Alanís, president of Global Exchange, in the role.
  • Hernando pledges to “continue working to strengthen the competitiveness of businesses and contribute to the promotion of training and talent”.

Andrés Hernando, CEO and founder of Hiperbaric, has been named the new president of Empresa Familiar de Castilla y León (EFCL), an organization that represents more than 180 family-owned businesses in Castile and León, all of which are leaders in their respective sectors. Hernando takes over from businessman Isidoro Alanís, president of Global Exchange, becoming the fourteenth president of EFCL since its founding in 1997.

Hernando’s appointment recognizes one of the most distinguished business careers in the Spanish industrial landscape and a leadership model based on innovation, strategic vision, and a commitment to the region’s economic and social development.

It is an honor to lead an organization whose values reflect my understanding of the business world—namely, a commitment to innovation, regional roots, a long-term vision, and a dedication to people”, says Hernando, who takes on the presidency of EFCL with a commitment to “continue working to strengthen the competitiveness of businesses and help ensure that our region remains a leader in industry and business”, he adds. In addition to continuing his predecessor’s strategic priorities, Hernando will work to foster talent development among member companies.

Andrés Hernando – CEO and founder of Hiperbaric

With a degree in Industrial Mechanical Engineering and an MBA from the University of Deusto, Hernando founded Hiperbaric in 1999 as a pioneering company in the design and manufacture of high-pressure industrial technology and equipment. Since then, he has led the company’s transformation into a global leader in its sector, with equipment installed in more than 50 countries across five continents and an international presence through sales offices in the United States, Mexico, and China.

His ability to anticipate trends and open up new growth opportunities has been one of the hallmarks of his leadership. Under his leadership, Hiperbaric has diversified its operations by creating new business lines focused on high-value-added technologies, including the development of solutions for the ultra-high-pressure compression of renewable hydrogen, thereby contributing to the advancement of the energy transition and the creation of a more sustainable industry.

In addition to his work as head of Hiperbaric and his recent presidency of EFCL, Hernando is the founder and vice president of the Castile and León Hydrogen Association (H2CYL), president of the Burgos Metal Industry Federation (FEMEBUR), and a member of the board of trustees of the CRE100DO Foundation, where he contributes to strengthening business competitiveness and promoting forward-looking projects for the Spanish economy.
