  • • The Alpine Wurst Purchases a Hiperbaric 135L HPP Equipment.
    • The investment is part of the company’s strategy to streamline operations by bringing HPP in-house and begin offering tolling services to small to mid-size food companies in Pennsylvania.
    • High pressure processing (HPP) provides food safety, a clean label, and extended shelf life for foods and beverages.

Miami, USA (January 27, 2023)The Alpine Wurst, a leading manufacturer of high-quality meats, announced today its facility expansion plans of adding a state-of-the-art high-pressure processing (HPP) 135L machine from Hiperbaric, a leading provider of HPP equipment.

HPP is a non-thermal preservation technique that uses high pressure to kill bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms in food, without altering its taste, texture, or nutritional value.

The investment is part of the company’s strategy to streamline operations by bringing HPP in-house instead of outsourcing the process to a third-party toller. By doing so, The Alpine Wurst will have a substantial reduction in overall transport and processing costs.

The new Hiperbaric 135L HPP machine will allow The Alpine Wurst to improve the safety and quality of its meat products while also increasing its production capacity, processing up to 1,500 pounds of product per hour.

The Alpine Wurst is adding 9,000 square feet to the production facility to house the HPP machine. Other additions include a new packaging line, expanding refrigeration storage by six times, and expanding the smokehouse and cooking facility.

The Alpine Wurst produces a wide variety of meats, including sausages, hams, bacon, and other deli meats. The company’s products are available in supermarkets and specialty food stores across the country.
“We are excited to partner with Hiperbaric to bring this cutting-edge technology in-house,” said Mark Eifert, Owner of The Alpine Wurst. “HPP allows us to improve the safety and shelf-life of our products, up to 4 months, while maintaining their freshness and flavor. This investment will help us continue delivering the highest quality meats to our customers, while increasing distribution and saving time on travel and fuel costs.”

In addition to its production, The Alpine Wurst also plans to offer tolling services to small to mid-size food companies in Pennsylvania. This will provide these companies with access to HPP technology without the cost and commitment of purchasing their own equipment.

“Our goal is to not only produce and process our own products, but also open our doors to co-packing and private labeling opportunities. We also want to make the technology accessible to other businesses and entrepreneurs in the Pennsylvania area,” added Mark.

Hiperbaric is a pioneer in high-pressure processing technology, with over 20 years of experience manufacturing equipment. The company’s HPP machines are widely recognized as the most advanced and reliable on the market.

“We are thrilled to be working with The Alpine Wurst, a company that shares our commitment to innovation and quality,” said Roberto Peregrina, Director of Hiperbaric USA. “We are confident that bringing our HPP equipment in-house will help them to achieve their goals and continue to grow their business.”
