Hiperbaric, a Spanish pioneer and global leader in high-pressure industrial equipment, is set to solidify its European leadership in green hydrogen compression technology in 2025. This significant expansion includes entering new European markets with first-time equipment installations in the Netherlands, Austria, Sweden, and Finland.
The company concluded 2024 with a robust business portfolio, doubling its compressor installations from 2023 to 20 units, serving sustainable mobility and industrial projects across Spain, France, and Germany.
Strategic Partnerships Drive European Growth
Hiperbaric’s entry into Finland is in collaboration with German company MAN Energy Solutions. Together with their partners, they will construct a green hydrogen plant boasting a production capacity of 1,350 kg per day, which will supply a nearby hydrogen facility for both sustainable mobility and industrial applications.
In Sweden, a sales agreement has been secured with Euromekanik. For the Netherlands, Hiperbaric’s strategic partner is Adsensys, and in Austria, it’s Voestalpine.

Proven Success in Spain, France, and Germany
Since commercializing its hydrogen compression technology in 2022 – leveraging its extensive experience in high-pressure equipment for the food sector – Hiperbaric has established a strong presence across several European countries, in addition to its native Spain.
In Spain, Hiperbaric was the first company to supply a high-pressure hydrogen compressor for sustainable mobility to the National Hydrogen Center in Puertollano. It also supplied equipment to the Power to Green Hydrogen project, a consortium led by Enagás, Acciona, Cemex, IDEA, and Redexis, aimed at deploying a green hydrogen ecosystem in Mallorca. Further installations in Spain include equipment for the hydrogen plant of the FCH2Rail project (the first hydrogen train ready for operation) and green hydrogen compression technology for municipal transport companies in Madrid (Serveo and EMT) and Barcelona (Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona). The company also installed equipment in the hydrogen plant supplying buses in the German city of Bielefeld.
Hiperbaric has also secured its largest contract for high-pressure green hydrogen compressors with French company Lhyfe, a global pioneer in green and renewable hydrogen production. This partnership has led to compressor supplies for multiple locations across Europe, including the French cities of Bouleon, Bessiières, and La Roche sur Yon, as well as Schwäbisch Gmünd in Germany. In 2024, Hiperbaric reported a turnover of €77 million.
The Future of Green Hydrogen
Green hydrogen is set to become the zero-emission substitute for natural gas in the domestic and industrial sectors and for petroleum derivatives in the automotive sector. It is a key energy vector for decarbonization on Europe’s path towards a more sustainable economy. It is the great ally of renewables thanks to its storage capacity which, however, due to its low density and large volume at ambient temperature, needs to be compressed for storage prior to use.
According to the study Socio-economic impact of the development of the hydrogen economy in Spain carried out by PwC, the green hydrogen economy in Spain will bring more than 32,000 million euros to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and will maintain some 81,000 jobs each year during its development.
