Hiperbaric and the Atapuerca Foundation join in an exciting dialogue on Human Evolution and Innovation on the occasion of the 25th anniversary that both entities will celebrate in 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Hiperbaric<\/strong>, a global leader in high-pressure technology, and the Atapuerca Foundation<\/a><\/strong>, the entity that supports the entire Atapuerca research project, have jointly organized a round table entitled ‘The future to understand the past. Innovation and technology from Atapuerca to the present day’. It was attended by the co-directors of the Atapuerca archaeological sites, Juan Luis Arsuaga and Eudald Carbonell<\/strong>, who were accompanied by Andr\u00e9s Hernando<\/strong>, CEO of Hiperbaric, and Carole Tonello<\/strong>, Director of Food Applications and Business Development at Hiperbaric.<\/p>\n

Innovation in the food sector has been a constant since the beginning of mankind. The first European humans<\/strong> found at the Sierra de Atapuerca archaeological site<\/a>, located in the province of Burgos (Spain), developed techniques to control and use fire, and from then until today the history of the food industry has been a story of evolution and constant innovation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Humanity has moved from primitive methods of hunting and gathering to sophisticated agricultural techniques and mass production systems. Today, the world is facing major food challenges<\/strong> – such as feeding 9 billion people by 2050 – with technological innovation<\/strong> as the only way to meet these major challenges. Concerns about sustainability, climate change and health<\/strong> are currently driving the development of major technological innovations, the seeds of which were sown millions of years ago with the work of the first European humans in their struggle for survival.<\/p>\n

During this talk, the participants went through different topics such as the development of technology and the evolution of food<\/strong>, as well as discussing the consequences and actions to address climate change<\/strong>. Arsuaga and Carbonell presented their vision of how humans can face the current challenges of our time with a look at the past<\/strong>, while Hernando and Tonello provided the perspective from the point of view of how the good use of innovation and technology can transform us.<\/p>\n
